Poetry Reading and Artist Luminary Celebration at MGCC

MGCC celebrated the exceptional talent of Hayli Givens, Sabrina Burks, and Georgia Bickford at a Poetry Reading and Artist Luminary Celebration on Tuesday, April 2. Their pieces were entered into the MGCC-level contest of the statewide VCCS Poetry & Luminary Arts Competition. Hayli was named MGCC’s first Poet Laureate, Sabrina was named MGCC’s first Artist Luminary, and Georgia placed second in the poetry contest at the MGCC level. Each student presented their piece, which was centered around the contest theme, “I Belong.” Hayli will go on to compete for the title of Poet Laureate of Virginia’s Community Colleges at PVCC on April 6.
