The new exhibit on display at the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center in downtown Clifton Forge is large, exciting, and diverse. The 2024 Middle and High School Art Competition opened on March 19 and will run through Friday, April 19, 2024. Admission to the show is free and open to the public. The show includes work from Covington Middle School’s 6-8th grade and Alleghany High School’s 9-12th grade students. The judge for the show was Angela Shields, who taught art in the Roanoke City Schools for 27 years, also spent many years helping to design Art Curricula for students, and is a working artist, active with the Virginia Watercolor Society. She was delighted with the range and expertise she found in the exhibit. Winners in the Middle School portion of the exhibit are:

There will be a reception for students and their families, teachers, school administrators, public official officials and the public on Thursday April 11, from 4:30- 6:30. The Annual High School & Middle School art show will run through Friday, April 19, 2024.
