The Covington mill will begin an annual planned maintenance outage the morning of April 10. Work will be done in the Woodyard April 10-11 and April 15-18; Unbleached Pulp Mill and Bleach Room April 11-23; Waste Water Treatment April 16-20; Recovery from April 10-23. The paper machines will be down at various times throughout this outage for maintenance.
On Wednesday April 10, the Recovery department will begin an outage on the No. 1 Recovery Boiler (1RU), No. 2 Lime Kiln, No. 1 Evaporator, and the Waste Heat Evaporator. There is also an extended blow break April 16-20 that will shutdown the No. 2 Recovery Boiler. The Recovery outage is scheduled to finish on April 23. We may experience high noise levels and odors during any part of this time but below are some known dates and times we will have them.
On Wednesday, April 10, we will be taking 1RU down and begin cleaning. There is the possibility of periodic high noise levels and odors from Wednesday at 9 p.m. to Thursday at 9 p.m.
On April 15, during the full blow break, we will be taking 2RU, No. 4 Evaporator, and the Waste Heat Evaporator down. There will be the possibility of high noise levels and odors periodically from Monday, April 15 at 7 a.m. until Sunday,
April 21, at 7 a.m. when the system is brought back online.
On April 22, we will be starting up 1RU and there is the possibility of high noise and odor levels periodically from approximately Monday, April 22, at 12 a.m. to Tuesday, April 23, at 7 a.m.
We will work to minimize noise / odor to the community during this outage. While work is being performed, equipment will be shut down and brought back online at different intervals for maintenance. There is a possibility that steam pop-offs could occur as equipment is shut down and brought back online.

There will be a number of contractor employees working in the mill during the outage. Please be aware of extra traffic around the mill, the WestRock parking lots, and entrance / exit gates during the outage period, especially around 5 to 7 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
