Jack Nelson Persinger
Jack Nelson Persinger, age 74, of 519 Brentwood Drive, Covington, Virginia died Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.
Jack was born on May 22, 1949 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Paul Nelson Persinger and Emma Agnes Fridley Via. He was a retired machinist for CSX Transportation, and a member of the Covington Moose Lodge # 610. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, and was a handyman who loved helping others with his maintenance skills.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Darlene Wilcher Persinger, and a daughter, Shawn Renee Persinger.
He is survived by a daughter, Kristie Schultz and husband Eric of Covington; a son, Jack “Jay” Persinger II of Covington; six grandchildren, Marisa Brogan (James Groves), Hunter Smith (fiancée Abby Seldomridge), Alexis Schultz (Jack Bailey), Connor Schultz, Emmalyn Schultz, and Riley Persinger; three great grandchildren, Karson Smith, Maverick Smith, and Maddy Groves; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Robin Hall officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home, and following the service at the residence, 519 Brentwood Drive in Covington, VA.
