STUARTS DRAFT – The Bath County varsity boy’s soccer team kicked off their 2024 regular season with a 4-2 road loss to Stuarts Draft this past Monday.
In what was a gritty win, senior David Harlow led the way for the Cougars with a pair of goals scored. Fellow senior Ethan Cyr scored a goal, while junior John Pleasants added a goal as well.
The defense in goal from SDHS was on par as the Cougars split time in the nets with senior Dylan Alexander and sophomore Jaime Loya-Baeza. Alexander and Loya-Baeza each had five saves and allowed a goal.
Stuarts Draft jumped out to an early 2-0 lead at halftime and maintained the pace in the second half despite Bath County working their way back into the game.
Senior Andrew Turner and sophomore Luke Turner each had a goal for the Chargers in the second half. A.Turner led the team with six shots, including four on-goal attempts.
Juniors Braiden Mabe and Wyatt Campbell led BCHS with three steals each.
In the nets, senior Frankie DeBoe played all 80+ minutes, while giving up four goals and recording 10 saves. DeBoe recorded 1-out-2 saves on penalty kicks.
Bath County (0-1) returns to the field on Tuesday, March 19th back on the road in a non-district match against Riverheads.
