On Thursday, March 25, 2024, Olde Town Covington participated in a Financial Planning Session with non-profit consultant Jennifer E. Goldman as the result of a Technical Assistant Grant in December 2023 from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.
Jennifer E. Goldman is a non-profit consultant who specializes in communicating an organization’s value, evaluating special events, designing diverse funding plans, nonprofits functioning as a business and identifying networking talking points. She has been a guest speaker at Main Street Now which is Main Street America’s annual national conference, the Foundation Center in Washington, DC, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, SWaMfest Annual Conference, Virginia Main Street and Fauquier Chamber’s Micro Enterprise Symposium.
Part of Olde Town Covington’s participation in the Virginia Main Street’s Mobilizing Main Street Program, requires Olde Town Covington to complete various tasks and assignments as well as attend meetings and seminars to remain in good standing and advance within the program. During Jennifer E. Goldman’s Financial Planning Session with Olde Town Covington, volunteer board members and ex-officio board members participated in discussions and worked through scenarios in an effort to identify potential funding sources, avenues to fund an executive director and how to be financially sustainable. Following the one-day session held in Covington, Goldman will provide Olde Town Covington with a FY 2025 Fund Plan as a guide to achieve the goals and benchmarks set to continue advancing the organization in efforts to achieve Virginia Main Street status.
Olde Town Covington is a local 501(c)3 non-profit organization which seeks to promote the revitalization and economic development of downtown Covington, which, in turn, should enhance growth for the entire business community of the Alleghany Highlands.
