The Clifton Forge Downtown Market, which is usually buzzing with shoppers on Thursday evenings from 3:30 pm-6:30 pm during the summer, revealed no soul in sight on Thursday, July 13th. The Market was abruptly halted after only about 20 minutes due to an impromptu thunderstorm. Typically, the Downtown Market is permitted to stay open, even during a rainstorm, so long as there is no thunder or lightning. However, once either appears in the sky, vendors are required to pack up for the day, as Clifton Forge Main Street adheres to a strict, safety-first mentality when it comes to protecting its citizens. This rule is longstanding and will remain in place. (Jennifer Bailey Photo)
