CLIFTON FORGE, Va. (VR) – The Clifton Forge Public Library will sponsor several activities during its Summer Reading Program called “All Together Now.”
Featured will be Bright Star Theatre on Monday, July 10; Magician Mike Klee on Tuesday, July 18; and the Rainbow Puppets on Thursday, July 27. Each program will be held at the Clifton Forge Fire Department located at 701 Church Street. The programs will begin at 11 a.m. Admission is free, as always.
The library will also focus on mental health awareness. On select Wednesdays in June and July, programs will be offered by Sue Ellen Haver that will help young children, grades K-3, with emotional stability and overall happiness. Each program will feature her dog, Russell, of “Muscles with Russell” fame. Haver will also lead the reading and craft portions of the programs.
For each program, parents or legal guardians are asked to accompany their preschoolers and primary-grade children.
In upcoming months, the library will have more programming on mental health in general and will also present a program that specifically focuses on the impact of social media on teens.
The library always encourages reading at all levels. From June 5 through August 7, readers, ages 3 through adult, are encouraged to keep a log of books they have read or that were read to them. Children ages 3-10 receive prizes for every five hours of reading, and youth from ages 11-17 receive prizes for each group of five books they have read. For every group of 10 books read, adults receive an entry into a drawing. Logs will be available in June at the library and on the library’s Facebook page.
The Clifton Forge Public Library is located at 535 Church Street. For information on any library program or activity, phone 540-863-2519.
