The Covington Lady Cougars (2-19, 2-8) regular season wrapped up on Tuesday following a 53-31 loss to the Narrows Lady Green Waves (10-11, 4-4).
The Green Wave controlled the first half as the team backed up Mya Robertson led by 30 points at halftime.
In the second half the Lady Cougars would close the gap to 20 points as the team outscored the Lady Green Waves 25-7 in the second half.
Lauren Bragg scored a team-high 12 points for the Lady Cougars.
Robertson was one two in double figures for the Lady Green Waves as she produced a team-high 12 points, while Kennah Spencer had 10.
The Lady Cougars will now focus on the Pioneer District tournament which starts this coming Monday. The Lady Cougars are the fourth seed in the district and will host their first-round matchup against the five-seeded Craig County Lady Rockets at the Cougar Den Monday evening.
The winner of the Lady Cougars, Lady Rockets game not only advances to the district tournament semifinal, the winner will also clinch a spot in the Class 1, Region C tournament.
Both of the Lady Cougars victories came against the Lady Rockets. On the road on December 16th the Lady Cougars won 43-29 and on January 20th at home 50-37.
