Dr. John Rainone, Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism’s president, substituted for Executive Director Teresa Hammond to conduct the “Ribbon Cutting Celebration” for Formals & Florals on Main in Covington on Mon, Aug. 29.
Tara Simmons-Brewster, owner of Formals & Florals on Main, introduced her staff prior to cutting the ceremonial ribbon following congratulatory remarks from Dr. John Rainone, president of both Mountain Gateway Community College and the Chamber who had introduced the dignitaries and governmental officials who welcomed Simmons-Brewster.
Mayor Tom Sibold represented the City of Covington and thanked Simmons-Brewster for expanding her business in the downtown area.
Dale Burdette, a member of Clifton Forge’s Town Council, expressed his appreciation for the services Formals & Florals on Main will offer.
Matt Garten, chairman of the Alleghany County Board of Supervisors, offered his congratulations. Garten, a well-know entrepreneur who recently cut the ribbon for the reopening of Image Express, one of his businesses which is located across the street from Formals & Florals on Main St., made welcoming remarks as well.
Terri McClung represented the Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation, and she praised Simmons-Brewster and her staff for expanding their business that rents and sells tuxedos and suits.
Located at 331 W. Main St., the staff of Formals & Florals on Main creates custom bouquets, flower arrangements and balloon bouquets to accommodate their customers’ needs.
The business also offers its customers a variety of gifts and fruit baskets from which to choose, and such keepsakes as wind chimes and sympathy quilts are among the items on display for sale.
The flyer presented to those in attendance notes that the staff includes designers who can customize simple floral designs to fit the needs of corporate events and weddings, and it states that the business offers delivery service from Lexington, Va. to Lewisburg, W. Va. as well as its delivery service in the Alleghany Highlands.
