CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Five more COVID-19 deaths have been reported in West Virginia, bringing the state’s total to 111.
The most recent deaths, all women, ranged in age from 47 to 87.
Two of the deaths occurred in a Princeton nursing home, where 42 people, including staff and residents, have tested positive for the virus.
Gov. Jim Justice said Wednesday that he has ordered the national guard to provide the Princeton Health Care Center with assistance.
As of Wednesday, West Virginia had 1,647 active cases of COVID-19.
Justice said West Virginia is seeing a migration of cases from Southern states involving travel.
“We have absolutely got to do all we can to fight this terrible killer. We can’t drop our guard down. We have got to stay on top of this,” Justice said.
