HOT SPRINGS – In their 2024 home-opener, Bath County’s varsity boys’ soccer team pitched a 9-0 shutout victory over Buffalo Gap in Hot Springs on Friday night.
Coming off of their first win of the season on Tuesday in a 4-0 shutout win over Riverheads, the Chargers for the second game in a row blanked their opposing team.
It was a game dominated offensively by the Turner’s. Senior Andrew Turner had quite the performance with a haul, as he led BCHS with a four-goal performance. Not to be outshined by his brother, sophomore Luke Turner put together a hat trick with netting three goals in the Chargers second win of the season.
Bath County erupted early on in the first 40 minutes with seven first half goals. Junior Wyatt Campbell scored the Chargers other two goals in the win as he now has three total on the season.
After his five-save performance on the nets in the win over Stuarts Draft, senior goalkeeper Frankie DeBoe had another perfect game as he pitched his second shutout of the season with four saves for Bath County. Through the first three games, DeBoe has 19 saves, while giving up just four goals.
Freshman Walker Randozzo was once again a defensive nightmare for the opposing team as he led the Chargers with a team-high five steals. BCHS was all over the ball any time Buffalo Gap could touch it as the team finished with 22 steals total. Seniors Luke Hooker & Noah Harmon, and junior Braiden Mabe each added three steals a piece.
BCHS improved to 2-1 on the season with their second shutout victory. The team will look to make it three wins in a row on Monday as the Chargers travel to Riner to play Auburn. The loss on Friday was Buffalo Gaps season-opener as they dropped to 0-1.
