Central Advent Christian Church located at 3515 Longdale Furnace Road in Clifton Forge will celebrate their 85th anniversary with a special homecoming service on Sunday, October 29.
The guest speaker for this service will be Reverend T. G. Ayers, pastor of Community Advent Church located in Roanoke, Va. Rev. Ayers attended Central throughout his youth before leaving the area and assuming the pastorate at the Roanoke church.
The service on the 29th will include displays of historical items, a brief video presentation, special music, an observation of Holy Communion, and a fellowship meal after the service followed by a fifth Sunday Hymn Sing.
The church will open its doors at 10:00 a.m. and coffee, hot chocolate and pastries will be available at 10:30 a.m. The video presentation will begin at approximately 10:45 a.m. followed by the morning worship at 11:00 a.m.
Everyone is invited to come and celebrate with the congregation as they observe the 85th anniversary of service to the Lord.
Central Advent Christian Church was founded in 1938 and was initially intended as the Virginia Conference meeting site with all Virginia Conference annual business sessions conducted at the location.
