Edgar Johnson, 84, passed away on Friday, March 24 in Annapolis, MD. Born on June 23, 1938, in Cumberland, MD to the late William T. and Edith E. Johnson, Eddie grew up in Low Moor and graduated from Central High School in 1956. He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Lee Shields, and they moved to Laurel, MD. As a resident of Main Street in Laurel, he would ride his ten-speed daily to West Laurel and return. He loved having a CB and his handle was “Mr. Ed.” He was active with the Laurel Majorettes and Savage Majorettes and was a member of various gyms, including the Grecian Health Spa. He was also a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Laurel, where he was a trustee and usher and volunteered for many projects, including the building of the new church. Ed loved traveling across the country on his Honda Gold wing, having the wind at his back with the sun in the sky. He retired from United Airlines at BWI Airport. He will be loved and missed by his only child, Valerie Johnson (Douglas) O’Neill; his grandchildren, Holly (Daniel) Marin, Ryan (Amber) Asmussen, Chris and Nick O’Neill and his great-grandchildren, Kali, Kinsley, Kohen, Hailey, Brantley, and Maci. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy and his second wife, Ruth. The family wants to thank Rutherford Manor for their fantastic care and many others for their prayers and support.
