Norman Cletus King
Mr. Norman Cletus King, age 83, of Virginia, died Monday, April 1, 2024, at his residence. He was the husband of Betty Lipes King to whom he was married to for forty four years.
Mr. King was born December 13, 1940 in Botetourt, VA, the son of the late Norman Franklin King and Lenna Austin King. Norman was a graduate of Eagle Rock High School, Class of 1959. He was employed by Westvaco where he worked on Number 5 paper machine as well as Number 1 paper machine. Mr. King was a longtime and active member of First Christian Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, traveling, playing fast pitch softball and was an avid Virginia Tech fan.
In addition to his wife, Betty, Mr. King is survived by a son, Ricky L. Dameron and wife, Linda of Eagle Rock; two daughters, Vicky Sue Dameron of Eagle Rock and Serita A. Powell and husband, Brian of Covington; a granddaughter, Mandy Lee Montgomery; a great granddaughter, Malia Faith Hawthorne; two brothers, Bernard B . King of Eagle Rock and Coy H. King of Salem; a sister, Georgia Gale Knighton and husband, Larry of Eagle Rock; a sister-in-law, Julia Hale King of Low Moor; a number of nieces and nephews including Cindy Wright and husband, Jeff, Robin Thompson and husband, Richard, Timothy G. King and significant other, Lindsey, Christopher King and Steven King.
In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph King.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at First Christian Church with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tim King, Chris King, Steven King, Jon Corby, Jimmy Lipes, Jeff Wright and Eric Wright.
The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 11:30 A.M. until time of service.
