CLIFTON FORGE — Clifton Forge’s first-half real estate and personal property tax bills have been mailed out. The deadline for payment is Monday, Dec. 6.
Clifton Forge residents will receive tickets from Alleghany County and the town.
Real estate tickets that have been requested in writing by mortgage companies, prior to the ticket mailing date, have been sent to them directly. Taxpayers should contact their mortgage company if they receive a tax ticket that they believe the mortgage company should be paying.
Failure to receive a tax ticket does not relieve the taxpayer of penalty or interest according to Virginia State Code.
Questions regarding assessments should be directed to the Alleghany County Commissioner of Revenue’s Office at 863-6640.
Taxes may be paid at town tall, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. excluding legal holidays. Payments may also be placed in the payment box located in front of the town hall or mailed to P.O. Box 75, Clifton Forge, Va., 24422. Credit card payments are accepted only in person at the town hall. Mail must be posted marked on or before Dec. 6 to avoid penalty.
