Music will return to Covington’s River Rock Amphitheatre Saturday, headlined by Nashville recording artists Wilson Fairchild.
Entertainment will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the Rebels of Rythym.
“These very talented ladies have been performing together for numerous years at various events around the area,” said Allen Dressler, director of Covington Parks and Recreation.
Local musician Chase Burley-Smith and his band will be entertaining the audience with a great show of country music by various artists from 4 to 6 p.m.
“Chase had been performing with us for several years and it is always a pleasure to have the local guys perform,” Dressler said.
At 6:30 p.m., a bluegrass band, New Standard, will take the stage.
“This group of fine musicians are very energetic and are trying to keep traditional Bluegrass alive. They have been performing together for several years now and their show will always include a little gospel music too. Their music is greatly influenced by such artists as Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers to name a few,” Dressler said.
At 8 p.m., Wilson-Fairchild takes the stage.
“The guys are not only great musicians, singers but great entertainers. Their show always includes a little comedy. Guess that comes from their musical heritage. Will and Langdon Reid sons of two of the ‘Statler Brothers’ are cousins and have been performing for over 15 years together. They have an outstanding harmony and have written, published and recorded over 30 songs together. They are good ole country boys who like peanut butter, old cars and of course country music. We promise you once those electric guitars are plugged in their entertaining abilities will kick in and you will be provided a night of musical delight by them and the group of fine musicians that make up their band,” Dressler said.
One member of the band, Scott Cash, has ties to the Alleghany Highlands.
This free event is sponsored by the Covington Parks and Recreation.
“We will also have food available for purchase provided by JKK Concessions and Puff’s Barbecue. Children’s activities will be provided by Deb’s Amusements. So, let the music ‘Carry You Back to Virginia’ and join us this Saturday,” Dressler said.
