The public may notice an extra police presence today at Alleghany High School and Jackson River Technical Center.
This action was taken by the Alleghany Sheriff’s Office after a student made a concerning statement toward another individual that was overheard by a small number of students.
AHPS has promptly investigated the incident and the statement was found to be non-threatening. Students and staff are safe. A
HS and JRTC are under normal operations.
