Lacy Hurl Wriston

 

Lacy Hurl Wriston, 85, of Hot Springs, Virginia passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024, at residence.

He was born August 22, 1938, in Clear Creek, West Virginia, the son of the late Darl Lacy Wriston and Eva Jane Williams Wriston.

Mr. Wriston retired from Dixon Lumber Company. He was formerly employed with Mick or Mack, the Jefferson Florist and the Homestead Resort.

He was a 1957 Graduate of Clear Fork High School. He served in the United States Army from 1961- 1963, taking his Basic Training and AIT in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. The rest of his service was in Mannheim, Germany. He received a Good Conduct Metal, Riffle Marksman, and several Campaign Metals while serving in Germany. He loved mowing his 2-acre yard with his push mower and working in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed fishing. He had a pet pig that he raised from birth and a deer that would frequently visit his backyard. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Wriston was married to the late Wilma Jean Cauley Wriston, his wife of 58 years whom he married on March 19, 1964. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2023.

He is survived by a daughter, Norma McCune of Buckhannon, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Kimberly Bryan & husband Jamie of Hot Springs, and Martin McCune of Hot Springs; two great-grandchildren, James Bryan V, Jackson Bryan both of Hot Springs; two sisters, Mary Ann Evans of Ameagle, West Virginia and Kathleen Hylton & husband Harold of North Ridgeville, Ohio; sister-in-law, Barbara Jo Stover of Roanoke, Virginia; nephews, Rodney Evans and Terry Evans & wife Marsha all of West Virginia; Brian Hylton of Ohio, and Darrin Hylton of Ohio; and numerous other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Writson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Hylton officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Martin McCune, Matthew McCune, Terry Evans, Jamie Bryan, Jay Bryan, Derek Ayers, and Scott Robertson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home.
