In a show of solidarity and support for Career and Technical Education (CTE), officials from the city of Covington and the Town of Clifton Forge gathered on February 13 at Covington City Hall to sign a proclamation declaring February as CTE Month. This proclamation aims to highlight the vital role CTE plays in preparing students for successful careers and to raise awareness about the numerous opportunities that CTE programs offer.
CTE programs have long been an integral part of the educational landscape, offering students a variety of pathways to explore their interests and develop marketable skills. These programs equip students with the knowledge, technical expertise, and hands-on experience needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving job market.
With the signing of the proclamation, the city of Covington, Alleghany County, Clifton Forge, and Iron Gate have demonstrated their commitment to supporting and promoting CTE programs. By designating February as CTE Month, local officials hope to shed light on the incredible opportunities available to students and encourage them to consider pursuing a career in a technical field.
The benefits of CTE programs extend far beyond the classroom, as they provide students with invaluable real-world experiences and the chance to apply their skills in practical settings. Through internships, apprenticeships, and partnerships with local businesses, students gain exposure to various industries, fostering a seamless transition from the classroom to the workforce.
