Mary Ann DePriest Provost
Mary Ann DePriest Provost, age 66, of 34 Scotts Hollow Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia died on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at her residence.
She was born December 10, 1956, in Alleghany County to the late Ira Thomas DePriest, Sr. and Pauline Rogers DePriest. Mary was a school bus driver for Botetourt County Public Schools and loved softball, animals, and riding horses.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Mundy, Jr.; three brothers, Ira Thomas DePriest, Jr., Billy Grey DePriest, and Roger Dean DePriest; and a sister, Ella Sue Montgomery.
She is survived by her husband, David Leonard Provost; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Mundy; four sisters, Linda Jean Tucker and husband, Michael, Patsy Faye Tingler and husband, Rodney, Tamara Kay Fridley and husband, Bobby, and Joy Dawn Fridley and husband, David; a grandson, Dalton Esque; her two dogs, Sparky and Willard; her horse, Tuck; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Pastor Edith Snedegar officiating. Following the service, her body will be cremated. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Nicely Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Rd, Covington, VA 24426
