Girls Organize Scout Troop
Girl Scout Troop No. 1 of Covington, has been formed, with a membership of thirty. Quite a good deal of interest has been shown in this work, and it is proposed to secure an instructor in Scout work from national Scout headquarters to come here and train young ladies over 21 years of age in the duties of Scout leadership.

Wonderful Sport Shooting Windows Out Of School
Covington’s “Big Game Hunters” were out in mass last night or early this morning, armed with air rifles instead of machine guns. The barrage was torn loose on the windows of the south side of the Covington High School building. The local school authorities say that if they are able to catch the “hunters” that they will no doubt eat their meals from a mantle for several days if their parents properly punish them, which they undoubtedly will.

Covington Girl Remains Missing
A search for 18-year-old Carolyn Bell remains unsuccessful. The last account was a letter mailed on the 7th of this month with the postmark of Pittsburg, Pa. The letter, believed to have been written while the girl was in an upset condition, stating that she was not coming back home and that she was “going, going, going.” The search is being pressed in fear that the girl, an epileptic, is in serious danger without sufficient medicine to control her seizures.

Vandalism Suspected As Possible Cause Of Train Derailment
The derailment of three railroad cars containing hazardous materials that resulted in the evacuation of approximately 1,000 city residents, may possibly be attributed to vandalism, according to CSX officials. J.J. Kern, division manager for CSX, said “The preliminary cause of the derailment is vandalism. Kern was reported to have said, ” a switch appeared to be tampered with.”

Replace Flags
Each Year the Clifton Forge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4299 replaces the flags at Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Clifton Forge. Shown in photo below are members, from left, holding the U.S. Marine corps flag Senior Vice Commander Doody Morris, Quartermaster Harold Spangler, Junior Vice Commander Richard Erskine and Chaplain Willard Camp, Flags that are replaced include the U.S. Flag, POW Flag, U.S. Marines, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and Air Force.
