Chargers can’t find the nets in 7-0 loss to Eagles

RINER – Playing on the road on Tuesday, April 9th, the Bath County varsity girls soccer team was shutout by Auburn 7-0 in Riner.
 
The Eagles grabbed offense from all over the field as seven different players scored goals for AHS. Senior Katie Light had one goal and led the team with three assists in the schools fifth win of the season as they improved to 5-2 overall.
 
In the nets, senior Josi Agee-Helms and sophomore Kennedy Marshall each had two saves apiece. Both goalies played 40 minutes as Agee-Helms played the entire first half and with Auburn leading 3-0 at intermission, the Eagles went to Marshall for the second half.
 
The struggles continued for Bath County (0-4-1) in the loss. It was the team’s second straight game where they have given up at least seven goals scored.  
 
Sophomore Kenley Smith and freshman Reaghan Pritt each had six steals to lead Bath County. Junior Laci Ryder had two shots on goal.
 
Despite giving up seven goals, senior goalkeeper Zoey Jenkins had another big game with 28 saves.
 
Bath County 0 0 – 0
Auburn 3 4 – 7
