VINTON – The Alleghany girls basketball team rounded out its regular season with a 55-44 road loss to William Byrd on Wednesday night.
The Lady Terriers jumped out to a 19-5 lead after one quarter and never looked back as they led 26-15 at the half.
Jessica Rhodes led the Lady Terriers (4-4 BRD, 9-12 overall) with 17 points, while Haley Overstreet added 10 and Lindsey Carver finished with nine.
Esther Allman led the Lady Mountaineers with 11 points, while Analea Deeds added eight and Kirsten Burton finished with seven.
Sara Church and Mindy Gillispie chipped in six points each, while Paige Irvine, Kristian Wiseman and Alissa Morgan rounded out the Alleghany scoring with two points apiece.
The Lady Mountaineers (2-6 BRD, 8-12 overall) will be back in action Monday at 6:30 p.m. as they host Northside in the Blue Ridge District Tournament play-in game.
The winner will advance to Wednesday’s quarterfinals at Lord Botetourt to play the top-seeded Cavaliers at 6 p.m.
