NARROWS – Playing on the road in Narrows, Bath County picked up their fifth win of the season following a 4-1 victory over Narrows in a varsity boys Pioneer District soccer match last Thursday.
Junior Braiden Mabe had a big performance in the Chargers district victory over the Green Waves as he scored a pair of goals, had an assist, and also led the defense with a team-high five steals. Mabe made 2-of-3 attempts at shots on goal in the win.
Fellow junior Wyatt Campbell and senior Andrew Turner, each had a goal for BCHS. Turner meanwhile had four steals on the defensive side of the ball. The Chargers finished the game with 26 steals in the win.
While the offense and defense were key for Bath County’s win, so too was senior goalkeeper Frankie DeBoe. In 10 attempts, DeBoe had nine saves and allowed the lone goal which came in the second half as the Chargers were seemingly in the driver’s seat towards a victory.
It was a key win for BCHS who now are 3-2 in district play this season and have one district game remaining on the schedule which is a rematch with Narrows in Hot Springs. That game took place on Monday evening.
