LOW MOOR — The Alleghany Highlands YMCA is extending hours of operation, beginning Monday, May 20.
Starting Monday, the YMCA will remain open until 9 p.m. through the work week and until 6 p.m. on Saturday, returning closing hours to their pre-COVID times. New hours will be Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday hours are remaining the same.
“We are excited to extend our hours some during the week and on Saturday, so that we can continue to be accessible for those with varying schedules,” said Bobbie Wagner, president and CEO of the Alleghany Highlands YMCA. “We understand how busy life can be, so staying open an hour later may provide some flexibility for our members’ schedules.”
Additionally, the YMCA is removing reservations for its Stay & Play area, allowing more flexibility for parents or guardians wanting to utilize the YMCA but who need childcare during that time. Hours will remain the same, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., but no reservations will be required. Stay & Play is a safe space for children ages six months to 12 years, where they can be attended while having fun
and learning. Stay & Play is filled with developmentally-appropriate toys and activities so that guests can enjoy their time at the YMCA while not worrying about their children. Staff will supervise the child for up to two hours per day while patrons are utilizing YMCA amenities. Stay & Play
is included with a YMCA family membership, or a YMCA guest can pay a fee for that day.
“We are also thrilled to remove the reservation system for our Stay & Play area,” Wagner added. “This definitely allows for parents/guardians to have access to childcare while they are working out and enjoying our YMCA.”
Since its inception in 1993, the Alleghany Highlands YMCA has provided a wide variety of youth, family and senior citizen programs with expanded membership and services into all of the Alleghany Highlands communities.
