HOT SPRINGS – Coming off of a 4-win season, the Bath County varsity baseball team is primed for more wins on the diamond this season.
Following a 4-12 (overall) season, the Chargers bring back four players from their varsity team last season and a total of five upperclassmen that are looking to flip the script this year.
Last season the BCHS season came to an end after an 8-1 loss in the Pioneer District first round.
With their four returning players, five total upperclassmen, and seven underclassmen (6 sophomores and 1 freshman), third-year head coach Matthew Altizer will have a balance of talent ready to push the Bath County varsity baseball program to the next level.
The Chargers this season will have 14 regular season games (4 non-district, 10 district). In their season-opener on March 20th the team will host Pocahontas County, W.Va. in a non-district ball game.
In their second game of the season, Bath County begins their district games on March 26th by hosting the Rams of Highland High School.
Weather pending, the Chargers will have a tough stretch from April 22-26 as the team plays four straight road games in a five-day span.
