FISHERSVILLE, Va. (VR) – The Cougars delivered a statement win, knocking off No. 2-ranked Wilson Memorial 10–4 for its first district loss of the season.

Alleghany (10 runs on 13 hits) jumped on the Hornets early and kept pressure on throughout, backed by a balanced offensive attack and timely extra-base hits. Wilson Memorial, previously unbeaten in district play and ranked No. 2 in the region, was held in check after an early push.

Graham Brewster led the charge at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI, a double and 7 total bases, plus a stolen base. Tucker Phillips added a 2-for-4 night with a double, triple, 2 RBI and 3 total bases. Bronson Shinault finished 2-for-4 with a double, run and 3 total bases, while Brady May went 2-for-3 with a run and walk.

Jalen Raether contributed across the board, finishing 1-for-4 with a run and RBI, while also taking the ball for 5.1 innings, allowing 8 hits, 4 runs (4 earned), 4 walks, and striking out 6. Kai Rowland worked 1.2 innings in relief, giving up 1 hit and striking out 2 while also going 1-for-4 with a run and 3 total bases at the plate.

Buddy Leisure-White went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base. Brycen Griffith added a 1-for-3 line with an RBI, run, sacrifice, and strikeout. Trey Cook finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Garrett Carper also scored.

Alleghany’s offense consistently extended innings, stacking hits across the lineup while limiting Wilson Memorial’s chances late to seal the 10–4 win.
