Cecil Bryant
David Cecil Bryant, Sr., age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at his home. He was born July 21, 1939, in Roanoke County, Virginia, the son of Henry Jacob and Maggie Elizabeth Jones Bryant.
He loved good jokes, yard sales, flea markets, deep sea fishing, and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Virginia Tech Hokies, Covington Cougars and Baltimore Orioles.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Angelia Stinnett Bryant, whom he met in Eagle Rock, Virginia. Also survived by his son, David “BB” Bryant, Jr. and wife, Cindy, grandchildren, Courtney Roberts and husband, Ralph and David E. Bryant and Kimberly Harrell. Great-grandchildren: Olivia, Shayleigh and Mason. Also survived by a brother, Homer Bryant, He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Carol Sue Hayslett, and two brothers-in-law, Joe “Dete” Stinnett Jr. and Linda, and Bob Agnor. Cecil was also blessed by many nieces and nephews and a true best friend, Carlos Angell.
In addition to his parents, Cecil was predeceased by brothers, Richard and Clifton and sisters, Ada, Mamie, Lillian, Ethel, Ruth and Gladys, and by sisters-in-law JoAnne “Poogie”, Sylvia and Kathy.
Cecil was very active in youth sports including both basketball and football. For over 25 years, he was blessed to have coached the Moose Little League basketball teams which featured some of the most talented athletes and teams in Covington Youth League sports history.
Cecil was never a “coat and tie” person and the weather will be very warm, if you would like, dress casual and/or support your favorite team. Flowers are beautiful but Cecil would ask that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home Chapel in Covington, Virginia. Interment will follow at Eagle Rock Methodist Church Cemetery in Eagle Rock, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Loving Funeral Home.
Service will be conducted by Rev. Doug Hollenbeck and Rev. Bill Gilliland.
Pallbearers will be David Bryant, Ralph Roberts, Colton Taylor, Joe Stinnett, Allen Dressler and Neal Dressler.
