LOW MOOR — The track at Alleghany High School is closed to the public while improvements are carried out by contractors. This is as anticipated per previous public communications.
With public safety in mind, the closure will remain in effect until the track project is completed. The projected completion date is anticipated for November.
Contractors arrived on site this week to begin the demolition phase of the project. Price Buildings Inc. of Rocky Mount is performing the work at a cost of $999,500.
The improvements will enable Alleghany High School to host track and field events in the spring of 2024. The high school has been unable to host track events for several years due to the deteriorated condition of the track.
