Bath County will host a Grammy Award-winning artist on Saturday, May 6th. Tim O’Brien, accompanied by Jan Fabricius, will perform at the Mountain Lodge at The Omni Homestead Resort as part of the annual SoFly Fest.
O’Brien was born and raised in Wheeling, WV. He grew up singing in church and in school, and after seeing Doc Watson on TV he became a lifelong devotee of old-time and bluegrass music. Tim has toured both nationally and internationally. He has written hits for Kathy Mattea, and artists like Nickel Creek and the Dixie Chicks have covered his songs. During his career, he has collaborated with the likes of Darrell Scott,
Dirk Powell, Steve Earle, Mark Knopfler, Dan Auerbach and Sturgill Simpson. The International Bluegrass Music Association awarded him with song of the year in 2006 and named him best male vocalist in 1993 and 2006.
O’Brien now lives in Nashville with his wife Jan Fabricius, a talented singer and songwriter in her own right. They have performed together since 2015 in a duet setting with a guitar, a mandolin, and their two voices. They bring an intimate and warm acoustic music roots repertoire that is at once both original and traditional. The duo is generously donating their time to perform this concert and all proceeds from the concert will
be given to Project Healing Waters. Project Healing Waters brings a high-quality, full-spectrum fly fishing program to an ever-expanding number of disabled active military service personnel across the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, in Military Hospitals and the Warrior Transition Command. PHWFF has become recognized as an innovative leader and model in the field of therapeutic outdoor recreation for the disabled, through its successful application of the sport of fly fishing as a rehabilitation tool.
Tickets for the event are $30 per person. Refreshments will be available for sale and outside food and beverage are not permitted. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the concert starting at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available at www.bacovaoutdoors.com/tickets or at the door that evening. Space is limited, so advance ticket purchases are recommended. General admission will be lawn seating, and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.
