Boys Home of Virginia participated in the annual KidsGardening summer photo contest. The first-time entry competed against over 700 entries. KidsGardening’s mission is to create opportunities for children to play, learn and grow through gardening, engaging their natural curiosity and wonder. Boys Home won honorable mention in the category of “Kids in the Garden” for the photograph above. The picture depicts the garden version of “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.”
The vegetables photographed were grown on the Boys Home property by students under the direction of Farm Manager Linda Angle. The garden was started in the spring and Linda says, “It’s incredible to watch the students’ excitement as they see their hard work grow. They take pride in their efforts and the results. It’s so much more than just a garden. I am planting seeds for a lifetime.”
