Dear Editor,
We need your help in getting our news to all students who attended the former Dunlap High School from its beginning in 1928 until it closed in 1963.
We will hold our 13th school reunion on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Covington Moose Lodge, located at 414 Moose Park Rd., Covington.
Everyone who attended Dunlap High School from 1928 to 1963 is welcome and encouraged to attend. Letters have been mailed to those on the school alumni list and if you did not receive an invitation please contact the alumni committee at P.O. Box 481, Covington, Va. 24426.
Dunlap School was built in 1928 at Hematite, Virginia, on land purchased from Mr. Hahn. The first graduating class was held on June 12, 1929, with seven students.
The reunion events for Saturday, Sept. 25, will begin at 10 a.m. for early arrivals with coffee and doughnuts served in the “bingo” hall and a time of fellowship with all alumni.
A catered meal at a cost of $15 per person will be served at 1 p.m. in the hall. It is most important to let the committee know if you will be attending by Sept. 5. Mail your check made payable to Dunlap School Reunion for $15 for each person so we will have an accurate count for our caterer.
We hope all Dunlap School alumnus and their families will attend and enjoy a day of fun, fellowship, and reacquainting with your classmates.
If you have questions, please contact Betty (962-5905), Carole (747-2275), or Linda and Gene (559-3601).
Sincerely,
Martha Camden Terry, ’56
