Bath County competes at JJ Updike Last Chance Invitational

HARRISONBURG – In their last meet of the regular season before the Pioneer District championships, Bath County competed at the JJ Updike Last Chance Invitational held at Harrisonburg High School this past Friday. 
 
Senior Natalie White was the lone Charger to make it in the top-5 of an event where she won the girls 3200-meter run. White won with a time of 12:34.37 and held off Turner Ashby’s Magdalena Lantz-Trissel by .32 of a second. 
 
White also competed in the 800-meter run where she finished 11th with a time of 2:41.98.
 
Turner Ashby won the girls event with 85 total team points, while East Rockingham finished just behind them at 80. Bath County finished tied for 11th with Strasburg and Tuscarora High School at 10 points.
 
The hosts Harrisonburg won the boy’s event. Bath County did not have a participant in any of the boys’ events.
 
Abbey Phillips had a top-10 finish in the girls 100-meter hurdles placing 9th overall with a time of 19.29.
 
Kenley Smith, Laci Ryder, and Sierra Gardener also competed at the invitational. 
 
Phillips was the lone Charger who competed at the Generals T&F Invitational held at Stonewall Jackson High School on May 3rd. Phillips finished 10th in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.51.
 
Next up for Bath County is the district championship this Wednesday held in Pearisburg.
