HARRISONBURG — Former Covington resident Elizabeth Dressler McBride is organist and accompanist for the Masterworks Chorus of the Shenandoah Valley, will be featured in the Pipes Spectacular Sunday at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg.
The concert, which explores the many sounds of the pipe organ, begins at 3 p.m. With the concert being held close to Halloween, McBride has chosen repertoire with a gothic theme.
Selections will include “Tocatta and Fugue” in D Minor by J.S. Bach, “Suite Gothique,” by Boellmann and a movement from the “Symphonie Gothique” by C.M. Widor.
The 61-voice Masterworks Chorus, conducted by Dr. Betty Karol Wilson, will perform choral works which feature organ and voices combined.
McBride is the daughter of and Charles E. Dressler Jr. and Margaret Dressler of Covington.
She is a graduate of Alleghany County High School.
She holds a master’s degree in music from James Madison University.
For the past 25 years, she has performed as a soloist and accompanist throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
She is currently associate director of liturgical arts at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church in Harrisonburg.
She also teaches private piano lessons.
