SWOOPE – It took three tries and over a month of rain outs and postponements, but finally the Bath County girls Tennis team finished a match this past Thursday.
In what was the team’s official first match of the season the defending Pioneer District champion Chargers fell to Buffalo Gap 6-3 on the road in Swoope.
BCHS picked up a pair of singles wins from Brooke Hess and Sophie Ailstock. Hess was an 8-2 winner, while Ailstock was an 8-1 winner.
Ailstock was a two-time winner for the day as she helped push the Chargers to a doubles win as well. Ailstock and Adrianna Miller won in doubles, winning 8-6.
Bath County had previously started a pair of matches that were stopped due to rain. Against Parry McCluer in Buena Vista back on April 11th the Chargers were tailing 2-1. And then had another stoppage against Page County last Tuesday as well.
