STAUNTON – For the second time this season Bath County was on the wrong side of a no-hitter following a 10-0 loss on the road to Grace Christian in Staunton last Tuesday.
It was a big-time performance from Ethan Wright who tossed the five-inning no-hitter for the Warriors. Wright, only a sophomore, struck out 13 and only allowed one batter to reach on a walk. Wright walked Cooper Lowry in the top of the fourth inning on just five pitches before settling down and striking out Issac Ingram to end the top half of the inning.
While Wright was cruising on the mound, he was backed by his offense that was led by Davis Reid. Reid went 3-for-3 at the plate that included a triple and a double, while also driving in six runs. Reid was a home run away from the cycle.
At the plate, it was a rough go for the Chargers offense. The team combined to bat 0-for-15 and struck out in 13 of the 15 plate appearances.
Nathan Hunt took the loss for BCHS, while the team also had appearances on the pitching mound from Ingram and Lowry.
For Bath County (1-3, 0-1 Pioneer) it was the second straight game that they have been no-hit in. The team was coming off being held hitless on the road against Parry McCluer just one week prior. The Chargers have now been without a hit for over 10 innings dating back to their game against Pendleton County on March 21st. This was the third game in a row that BCHS was shut out.
