STAUNTON – In a track meet that took place this past Wednesday, Bath County featured several top performers at the event in Staunton at Staunton High School.
The track meet featured four schools: Bath County, Staunton, Waynesboro, and Wilson Memorial.
In the boy’s championship it was Waynesboro who took the title home with a staggering 107 points. Staunton finished second with 89.
Meanwhile, the girl’s championship was won by the hosts Staunton High School. The Storm won with 84 points. Bath County finished in third place with 17 total points.
Natalie White picked up the win in the girls 1600-meter run with a time of 5:55.17. White outlasted Alexis Austin from Waynesboro. White also finished in fourth for the girls 800-meter run with a time of 2:48.92.
In the girls 100-meter hurdles, Abbey Phillips was the lone runner. Phillips finished with a time of 21.66.
Making her meet debut, Laci Ryder had a top-3 finish for the event. In the girls 200-meter dash, Ryder finished with a time of 31.26. It was only 1.38 seconds off from Brook-Lyn Kitrell of Staunton. Kitrell finished with a best time of 29.88. Ryder also finished sixth in the 100-meter run with a time of 14.78.
On the boys’ side, Bath County’s lone runner Matt Harold finished in seventh place in the boys 800-meter run. Harold finished with a time of 3:19.62.
Bath County will be back on the track this Friday for the Augusta County Invitational that is being held as Riverheads High School.
