Norma Johnson Lemon
Mrs. Norma Johnson Lemon, age 89, of Covington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Brian Center Nursing Care, Low Moor. She was the wife of the late Archie Ward Lemon.
Mrs. Lemon was born December 30, 1933 in Covington, the daughter of the late W.E. “Bill” Johnson and Ethel Byrd Johnson. She was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1951. Norma was employed by the former CFW Telephone office for a number of years. Mrs. Lemon was a member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church. Norma liked all sports especially bowling and golf where she had a passion and talent for both. Mrs. Lemon also thoroughly enjoyed watching members of her family competing in sports and especially loved going to sporting events such as attending four Super Bowls along with numerous Masters Golf tournaments with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bridge and other card games with her friends.
Mrs. Lemon is survived by a son, Archie Ward Lemon, Jr. of Covington; two daughters, Susan Lemon Nicely and husband, Darren of Clifton Forge and Miss Sandy Lemon of Santa Fe, NM; six grandchildren, Christopher “Brian” Lemon and wife, Julie, Jarrod A. Lemon and wife, Karey, Jenna
Lemon Sorlagas and husband, Alex, Christina Nicely Wiseman and husband, Wade, Heather N. Richmond and husband, Corey, Justin Nicely; ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lemon was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Johnson and a sister, Janice Johnson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Justin Nicely, Jarrod Lemon, Brian Lemon, Wade Wiseman, Alex Sorlagas, and Corey Richmond.
Alternate pallbearers will be Zack Lemon and Jenna Sorlagas.
The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
