Walter Brown Spinner, Jr.
Walter Brown Spinner, Jr., age 72, of 1016 Rose Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, August 19, 2023, at The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge.
Walter was born October 23, 1950, in Clifton Forge to the late Walter Brown Spinner, Sr. and Nora Hickenbotham Spinner. He served three years in the United States Army and also in the U. S. Army Reserves for a number of years. He was a retired janitor for Kmart in Covington and also worked for Catawba Hospital and the former Liberty House Nursing Home. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clifton Forge, where he sang in the choir, served as a former trustee, and performed janitorial duties. He loved old cars and model cars and was also a NASCAR fan. He enjoyed music and dancing, football, and helping children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Calvin “Tree” Spinner, and a sister, Nora Christian.
He is survived by a son, Kyle Woodard of Clifton Forge; eight sisters and brothers, Lorraine Spinner, Virginia Beverly, Cindy Spinner, Cynthia Godfrey, Jean Godfrey, Elmingo Spinner, and Dean Spinner, all of Clifton Forge, and Laura Scott of Chesapeake; number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Cassandra “Cassy” Scott; as well as several cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the church.
