Grab your flip flops and head on down to the beach on Main! Main Street in Covington will come alive on Saturday, July 29 with tunes that will make you think you are at the coast sitting on a beach.
Bringing the beach music to Covington will be the shag band U B U from Greensboro, North Carolina. They travel up and down the East Coast providing audiences with beach, rock and roll, oldies and more. They are the complete show package with over 75 years experience collectively. You may have heard them before when they have performed at the Greenbrier or Homestead. Carrying on the tunes from Southwest, Virginia is the Last Chance Band bringing you more oldies and beach tunes. They are a very talented group that performs at numerous local events in the NRV.
We are also excited to have the very talented and energetic group of young ladies, Rebels of Rhythm clogging to some of your favorite beach tunes. Taking the stage to carry the beach tunes into the evening hours from Greensboro, North Carolina is the band CAT 5. Though this group is fairly new the members have numerous years of experience providing crowds with a great show. They won the CMMA Cammy Award for New Artist in 2020. In 2021 they were nominated for 10 Cammy Awards. Their song “The Beach and The Boulevard” won song of the year that same year and the following year they won 5 more awards including Song of the Year again and Group of the Year.
We will have food available from the German Bratwurst truck from Staunton and Love All BBQ, and if you have been to Walmart in Covington lately then you have smelt the aroma coming from that food truck. You can grab a nice cold flavorful icee from Small Town Icees or an adult beverage from under the Olde Town tent. There will be bouncy houses set up for the little ones to enjoy.
Please come out sit back, enjoy good food, cold beverages and let the music carry you to the sandy white beaches. Feel free to sit in your chair and enjoy or get up and dance the Shag! Local car enthusiasts will also be joining us that evening and displaying their vehicles.
The event is free and open to the public.
