Mr. Dennis Ray King, age 76, of Covington, died Monday, February 20, 2023, at his residence. He was the husband of Connie McComb King who preceded him in death in 2009.
Mr. King was born July 31, 1946, in Winifrede, WV, the son of the late Mildred Nadine McDaniel King who passed away in 2019 at age 90. A resident of this community since 1965, he was employed as a millwright by MeadWestvaco, retiring in 2008 after forty-three years of service. Following his retirement, Dennis qualified as a master plumber and worked at Chapman Plumbing and Heating for ten years. Mr. King was a member of Edgemont Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church where he served his church as an elder and deacon. Dennis was also active with the church’s maintenance needs. He was a member of the Covington Masonic Lodge #171 AF & AM. Also, Dennis was a lifetime member of the Westvaco Rescue Squad, a volunteer with Boy Scout Troop #26, and along with his wife, Connie, was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. He truly enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Mr. King is survived by two daughters, Dawn King Lewis and husband, Anthony of Covington and Tiffany King Sanders and husband, Michael of Covington; a brother, Roy Lee King and wife, JoAnn of Sharon, WV; a brother-in-law, Guy McComb and wife, Debbie of White Sulphur Springs, WV; a number of nieces and nephews including special nephew, David McComb of White Sulphur Springs, WV; and special friend, Rowena Bennett of Covington.
Mr. King was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Lee King.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 24, 2023, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. James MacDougall officiating. Interment will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Crawley, WV.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Fairtrace, Lee Roe, Ron Bennett, David McComb, Guy McComb and James Gibson.
Active pallbearers will be Roy King, Jr. and Eric Pritt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oakland “Buzzy” Eggleston, Alex Meding, Garret Morgan, Ethan Bunch, Randy Robertson, Christian Allen, Austin Clark, Holly Stayton and Roy King, Sr.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home.
