It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that our beloved son, brother, and uncle, Clayton Heath Nicely, 27, of 5310 Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday, January 16, 2023, in Monroe County, West Virginia.

He was born on March 18, 1995, in Clifton Forge, Virginia, a son of Arnold “Clay” Nicely, Jr. and Billee Puckett Nicely, who survive him, of Clifton Forge. He is also survived by two sisters, Heather (Greg) Nicely Martin of Orlando Florida, and Lindsay Nicely of Covington, and a brother, Kody Nicely, of Clifton Forge; paternal grandmother, Lois Nelson Nicely of Clifton Forge; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Arnold C. Nicely, Sr. and maternal grandparents, Carlos Puckett and Arlene Shifflett.

After graduating from Alleghany High School, he proudly served his country for 4 years in the United States Army, Fort Benning, Georgia with the 198th Infantry Brigade, E 1-50 3rd Platoon, then on to his duty station in Vilseck, Germany with the 2nd Squadron 2nd U. S. Cavalry – Ghost Troop. Heath attended Victory Baptist Church as well as Good News Fellowship Church and Loving Life Fellowship Church. He was an avid fan of the Washington Commanders, formerly Redskins. He loved to run to stay in shape and also loved hunting with his dad and spending time with his family and special friends. He had a heart of gold and would go out of his way to help anyone who was blessed to have gotten to know him. He was so loved by so many in his community and beyond and will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, as well as by his Army family.

Funeral arrangements remain incomplete at press time. Please refer to the Nicely Funeral Home website for updated Visitation and Funeral Service Arrangements.
