Elmer Harrison “Ham” Harlow, age 89, of 109 Colonial Avenue, Williamsburg, Virginia died Friday, July 29, 2022, at The Consulate of Windsor in Windsor, Virginia.
Ham was born May 7, 1933, in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Charles Thomas Harlow, Sr. and Vinola Pearl May Harlow. He was a retired chauffeur for Eastern State Hospital and a talented handyman who loved doing odd jobs for people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise King Harlow; a stepson, James E. Brooke, Jr.; three brothers, James Harlow, Charles T. Harlow, Jr., and Ernest Harlow; and four sisters, Marguerite Broughman, Virginia Larman, Alvis Boyd, and Inez Dooley. Since his death, a stepdaughter, Sharron Lee Petrick has also passed.
He is survived by a brother, Ronald W. Harlow and wife Helen of Selma; four grandchildren, Richard Lipes of Blue Ridge, Theresa Oakley of Dinwiddie, Crystal Brooke of Norfolk, and Christian Brooke of Norfolk; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Hartsfield officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
