In loving memory of CW3 William D. Howard, 86. Eldest son of the late
Garnett and Gladys Howard. Passed away on July 13, 2022 in Reno,
NV with family at his side. He was a North Pole, AK resident for 54
years, recently moved to Reno, NV to be with his daughter and
Grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years with tours in the
Korean and Vietnam War (twice) receiving numerous metals. He retired
at Fort Wainwright, AK and made Alaska his permanent home after
falling in love with it. He worked for Evans Engine, Detroit Diesel, and the
State of AK as a heavy equipment mechanic. He loved hunting, fishing,
camping, travelling, and most recently BINGO! He never met a stranger
that is for sure! For the last 10+ years he volunteered at the Food Bank
in Fairbanks, AK which he really enjoyed, meeting many new people and
making several new friends. He is and will be missed by all who knew
him. Survived by Ava Edwards- Daughter, Grandchildren: Heather, David
Eugene, and Mallory, Siblings: Janet Austin, Yvonne Lewis, Wayne (Mary
Jo) Howard, and Berkley Howard, As well as Great Grandchildren:
Skylar, Romero, Aryana, Kai, and Annabelle and numerous nieces and
nephews. Proceeded in death by Garnett and Gladys Howard, Siblings:
Berlyn Howard, Paul Howard, and Betty Puskar, Ex-wife: Daisey
Rebecca Howard, and Son: William David Howard. A memorial service
will follow at a future date.
