Izzy spread its blanket of snow, six to eight inches thick, over the Alleghany Highlands more than two weeks ago leaving rooftops heavy and roadways hazardous.
Despite several sunny days since Izzy, freezing temperatures have preserved snowdrifts, and piles of snow pushed up beside roadways remain throughout the City of Covington and the towns of Clifton Forge and Iron Gate.
Old Man Winter has also left his ice sculptures behind for viewing, ones that the cold has kept from melting..
Workers from the S. G. Young Contracting were busy replacing the roof on the Edward Jones Building at 304 West Main Street across the street from the U.S. Post Office in Covington on Feb. 2.
The ice sculpture was gifted by Old Man Winter to the Alleghany Opticians Building at 201 Interstate Drive in Covington that is owned by Dr. Krishna Sankar.
