Mr. Lester Wayne Gann, age 61, of Covington, died peacefully at his residence on Monday, November 15, 2021.
Mr. Gann was born August 1, 1960, in Virginia, the son of the late William N. Gann Sr. and Peggy Boguess Gann Raether.
During his working career, he had been employed as a police officer by the Covington Police Department before retiring as the general manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken after over 20 years of service as well as delivering parts for Advance Auto and Fisher Auto Parts. Mr. Gann was a member of Good News Foursquare Church. Lester was also a former member of the Covington Fire Department. He was an avid Virginia Tech fan and loved spending time with his dogs, Colt and Rufus as well as his grand-dogs, Cooper and Waylon.
Mr. Gann is survived by a son, Brandon Gann and wife, Lauren of Vinton; two brothers, William “Bo” Gann and Jody Gann, both of Covington; two sisters, Emmy Goodbar of Lexington and Deena Simmons of Covington; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gann was preceded in death by a brother, Andy Gann.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Noel officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at 2340 S. Payne Avenue, Covington.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, Va. 24426.
