Mr. Earl Lee “Buddy” Brown, age 83, of Covington, died Saturday, September 4, 2021, at his residence. He was the husband of Garsilda Schooler Brown for 64 years.
Mr. Brown was born November 4, 1937 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Earl Henry Brown and Willye Belle Hinton Brown. He was a lifetime resident of this community. Mr. Brown was employed by the former Westvaco Corporation as a foreman with forty-four years of service. He served his country as a member of the United States Army before becoming a member of the National Guard for seven years. Mr. Brown served one term as a member of the Covington City Council. He also served a term as President of the Covington Little League when his son was young and was involved with Little League the entire time his son was growing up. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. His greatest joys in life were being a husband and father, and being PawBud to his beloved five grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Garsilda, Mr. Brown is survived by a son, Brian Keith Brown and wife Shannon of Forest, Virginia; a daughter, Lori Brown Drumheller of Georgetown, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Kenedi (Drumheller) Jackson and husband Andrew, Kamryn Drumheller, Kaden Drumheller, Haylee Brown and Mackenzie Brown; one sister, Beverly B. Barnett of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by five sisters, Louise Frances Brown, Phyllis Nadine Watts, Margie Smith, Betty Wilhelm and Mary Katherine Entsminger.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from the Chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas E. Hollenbeck officiating.
Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 11:30am until the time of service at Loving Funeral Home in Covington.
Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1200 N. Alleghany Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
