At a called meeting this morning, Covington Town Council voted an appropriation of $2,500 to the Covington Volunteer Fire Company to defray expenses incurred when delegates attend the annual convention of state firemen in Norfolk later on this month.
This appropriation was voted on following a discussion of how to dispose of a bill presented to the council from Jefferson Hospital of Roanoke amounting to $459.25. The bill was rendered on an outgrowth of an accident in which five Covington firemen were involved last May.
The men were West Hughes, Reginald Wolfe, Pete Byer, W.C. Arritt and Otho Knighton.
