Today’s Headline: Armentrout Given Two-Year Sentence For Stealing Sheep.
William Armentrout, indicted by a grand jury at the last term of court on a charge of stealing 11 sheep valued at $75 was convicted of the crime this afternoon by a jury in circuit court and his punishment fixed at two years in the state penitentiary.
The sheep in the case were all stolen from the farm of B.H. Kidd last January and taken to the Ronceverte, W.Va., stock yards by Armentrout, Jack Coletrain and Cecil Weiss. Coletrain and Weiss plead guilty to the charge of stealing the sheep at a previous term of court.

Today’s Headline: Police Announce Convicts Captured.
All three prisoners who escaped from a Bath County prison farm Tuesday have been taken into custody.
Bath County Sheriff Leo Lockridge told the Virginian that two of the three convicts who escaped from Bath County Prison Camp 20 Tuesday had been captured by 9 a.m. today.
Effective immediately, all sprinking of gardens, lawns and shrubs is absolutely forbidden, city manager of Covington Earnest L. Thacker announced today.

Today’s Headline: Kmart Employees Raise Over $8,700 For Michael Higgins Fund.
Over $8,700 has been raised by the Kmart Good New Committee for the Michael Higgins Fund, Kmart Manager Greg Fessler said today.
Currently, the fund stands at $8,786.98, and donations continue to come in.
The Good News Committee has sponsored the drive to help raise funds to pay medical expenses for 17-month-old Charles Michael Higgins, son of Harry and Patty Higgins of Route 4.

Today’s Headline: Dahlins Take Command Of Salvation Army Unit.
There are some new faces at the helm of the local Salvation Army Corps.
Captains Karl and Janice Dahlin took over the post of officers for the local Salvation Army Corps June 28.
They succeed Major Linda Sloan, who took a new appointment in Waynesboro.
